The Lea Strength Tester is used to determine the tensile strength and elongation of cotton, wool, jute, and other textile materials in skein form. During testing, the specimen is held vertically between two lea holders and subjected to continuous tensile stress until rupture. Elongation is measured simultaneously as the extension of the sample between the grips.

The machine is built on a robust metal base plate, with the load-measuring unit mounted on top and the drive assembly positioned at the bottom. Power is transmitted from an electric motor to the lead screw via a gearbox, while the pendulum rod connects to the upper lea holder through the main boss—ensuring smooth and precise operation throughout the test cycle.

The Lea Strength Tester is available in four capacities:

• 100 lbs
• 200 lbs
• 300 lbs
• 500 lbs

The appropriate capacity can be selected at the time of ordering. When yarn count is known, strength measured using the Ikon Industries Lea Strength Tester can be multiplied by the count value (COUNT × Strength in lbs) to calculate the CSP (Count Strength Product).
