Tensile strength and elongation are two critical properties that determine the suitability of raw materials such as metals, textiles, rubber, plastics, paper, ropes, yarns, and belts. Accurate and efficient measurement of these properties is essential for quality control.

The IKON Single Yarn Strength Tester provides a cost-effective solution for determining tensile strength and elongation of cotton, jute, and silk yarn in single strand form. It operates on the constant rate of traverse (CRT) principle, where one end of the specimen is held in a stationary grip and the other is moved at a fixed speed using a motor, gearbox, and screw mechanism.

The applied load is measured using a load cell and displayed on a digital indicator equipped with peak hold and tare facilities. Elongation is measured through a linear scale indicating the distance between grips. Traverse speed can be adjusted by changing the belt on the V-belt pulley system.

The machine frame is fabricated from heavy mild steel sections to ensure rigidity and stability. Built-in safety features include over-travel protection and automatic motor stop upon specimen failure. The unit is finished with dark enamel coating and bright chrome/zinc plating for corrosion resistance. It is supplied complete with electrical components such as micro-switches, push buttons, and contactors for safe and convenient operation.
