Compression Set Apparatus At Stress
Compression set testing under constant stress is used to evaluate the ability of rubber compounds to retain their elastic properties after prolonged exposure to a specified compressive load under static conditions.
The “IKON” Compression Set Apparatus (Constant Stress Type) is designed for accurate determination of compression set characteristics under a constant applied load. The unit comprises a calibrated loading spring, precision-ground and chromium-plated carbon steel plates, and a screw mechanism for compressing the spring. The complete assembly is mounted on a rigid metallic base and is portable for convenient use.
During testing, the specimen is placed between the compression plates and the required load is applied by compressing the calibrated spring. The applied load can be determined from a load-deflection graph, with spring deflection indicated by a pointer on a fixed scale. The entire assembly can be placed inside an oven to conduct tests at elevated temperatures.
The apparatus features a durable dark grey hammer-tone painted body with bright chrome-plated components for corrosion resistance.
Optional accessories include molding and cutting dies for specimen preparation and a thickness gauge for accurate measurement of specimen thickness.
